Beri Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-08-30
Applies to: Beri (iOS) and the beri-home.app website

Beri is a household inventory and shopping management app. If you don't sign in, your inventory, spaces, purchases, photos, and audit data are stored primarily on your device, and may sync to your personal iCloud based on your iCloud settings. If you choose to sign in with an Apple or Google account, the app instead creates an account through a cloud service provided by Google and syncs the data above through it, so you can share your inventory with household members and use the app across devices; household invite links are additionally served by Cloudflare. The website only enables website analytics or advertising-performance tracking after you opt in; feedback is only sent to the Beri team when you actively submit the form.

1. Scope of This Policy

This privacy policy explains how the Beri iOS app and the beri-home.app website handle data you create, enter, import, or sync while using the app, as well as feedback you voluntarily submit through the app or website.

2. Data Beri Processes

Beri may process the following data that you create or authorize access to:

3. How We Use Data

Beri uses the data above to provide the app's core features, including:

4. System Permissions

You can manage the permissions above in iOS Settings. Disabling a permission may make related features unavailable; other local inventory-management features will continue to work.

5. Third-Party Services & Data Processing

Apple iCloud

If you don't sign in with an Apple or Google account, Beri uses Apple's iCloud service to sync data to your personal iCloud account, to support syncing across your Apple devices.

Google's Cloud Service: Account Sign-In & Data Sync

When you choose to sign in to Beri with an Apple or Google account, we create your account through a cloud service provided by Google (technical name: Firebase), and may process the following data:

If you don't sign in, Beri stores and uses data only on your device (and, depending on your settings, your iCloud) — no cloud account is created and no data is sent to Google's cloud service. You can sign out at any time in Settings; signing out does not delete already-synced cloud data. To delete your cloud account and its cloud data, you can self-serve this from the app's "Account & Sync" screen (see section 7).

Local Product Dictionary

The app may use a local product dictionary bundled with the app to provide typing suggestions. These suggestions run entirely on your device and help you create items more quickly.

Website Feedback Form & Google Apps Script

When you voluntarily submit the beri-home.app feedback form, its content is sent to the Beri team via Google Apps Script, which also triggers a notification email. Google may process the technical data necessary for transmission and storage under its own terms of service and privacy policy. The website does not use this form to automatically read your Beri inventory, photos, or iCloud data.

Your name or nickname, email address, app version, and iOS version are all optional and up to you to provide; feedback type, subject, and description are required to submit the form.

Household Sharing & Invites

Beri supports co-managing a household with other users. When you sign in and join or create a shared household:

Household invite links are served jointly by Google's cloud service and Cloudflare (an internet infrastructure company, at the domain invite.beri-home.app). Cloudflare processes invite-link verification data to help prevent invite-link abuse; its service is not designed to access your inventory content. The invite flow may still need to pass a necessary household code or invite-related information to render the invite page.

Website Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising-Performance Tracking

The website uses your browser's local storage to remember your Cookie choices. This necessary storage is not used for advertising, and the website's core functions remain available even if you decline analytics and advertising-performance tracking.

Only after you consent to "website analytics" does the website enable Google Analytics, which helps us understand page visits and overall site usage — so we can tell which content is actually useful to visitors. Google may process the browser, device, network, and interaction data necessary for this under its own terms of service and privacy policy.

Only after you consent to "advertising performance" does the website enable Meta Pixel, which records page views and App Store outbound clicks so we can tell whether our Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns are working, and build website audiences in line with applicable rules. Meta may set identifiers such as _fbp and _fbc and process related data under its own terms of service and privacy policy. Meta Pixel does not read feedback form content or in-app household inventory, photos, or iCloud data.

You can choose "Cookie Settings" in the footer of any page to adjust or withdraw your analytics and advertising-performance choices at any time. After withdrawal, the website stops enabling these tools going forward and attempts to clear tracking cookies accessible to this website; data already received by third parties continues to be handled under their own policies and applicable law.

6. Photo Processing

Photo-based quick entry stores the photo you select as a pending item; you can fill in the name, package size, price, or other details later. Once you confirm and save it, the related photo and item data are stored in the app's data — synced to your personal iCloud based on your settings if you're not signed in, or to Google's cloud service if you are signed in (see section 5).

7. Data Retention, Export & Deletion

If you're not signed in: the inventory data you create is retained on your device and in your personal iCloud until you delete it in the app, delete the app, clear the app's iCloud data, or use Apple's iCloud management tools to remove it. In this case, Beri does not separately maintain a copy of your inventory database on a developer-operated server.

If you're signed in, you can self-serve both data export and account deletion from the app's "Account & Sync" screen, without emailing support and waiting for a manual response:

If you leave a shared household, your personal account data is removed from that household, but inventory/purchase records you contributed while sharing remain in that household's account for other members to continue using.

Verification data related to household invite links (processed by Cloudflare) expires or is cleared within a reasonable period after an invite expires or is revoked.

If you voluntarily provide feedback by email or the website form, that content may be retained in the mailbox and Google services used by the Beri team, for notifications, replies, and issue tracking, until it's no longer needed or you make a reasonable deletion request. You can email us to request deletion of feedback you previously provided.

8. Your Choices & Controls

9. Children's Privacy

Beri is intended for general household use. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided personal data through the feedback email or website form, please use the contact details below to request its deletion.

10. Data Security

Beri uses security mechanisms provided by the Apple and Google platforms to process data, and access-control rules limit household members to only the data belonging to their own household. Please note that no local or cloud-synced data can be guaranteed to be completely secure; we recommend you protect your Apple ID, Google account, device passcode, and related account credentials.

11. Policy Updates

This policy may be updated due to app features, third-party services, Apple's requirements, or legal requirements. Updated versions will be published at the same privacy policy URL, with a new effective date noted.
